Default Shifter difficulty

I've got a Hurst short stick, 48k miles on the stock M6. This past week its been giving me problems. Its getting tough to shift into gears, I really have to put force to get it past neutral and into any gear, especially first and second. And second has this nasty habit of going halfway into gear, fooling me, and results in grinding it. I've done a fair amount of powershifting, missed a few shifts in its life, but I'm getting these problems just daily driving.

Any ideas?

I've gotten advice that it may be the blocker rings rounding off, which sounds right. The barking noise I get in first/second sounds like a ring with round humps on it rubbing against the shifter.

Now, would I just need the rings or do you think the gears are shot as well?

Guys, if you had your flywheel resurfaced, you will need install the shim that goes behind the slave. I was having the same problem until I got the metal shim from spec. Car is like new now...
