Default Drill Mod??

I've seen yes and no. I have an '01 SS M6 and have no problems with shifting, and I get on my car every now and then . I will be going to the track in a week but will give my the car the "cool down" between runs. Will this mod help? or a waste of time?

It won't hurt to do it. Do your homework though. You will have to bleed the system and make sure you get all the air out. If you are not having any problems, and that inculdes quick shifts, then I wouldn't worry about it. When you put in an aftermarket clutch and have shifting problems due to the extra force needed to release the pressure plate, you will need to do the drill mod and most likely replace your master. Good luck at the track. I didn't have any problems with the stocker in either. I've got a centerfoce now Drill mod and McLeod

I did some more searching and with your responses (thanx) I think I will let it alone and see how it performs at the track...when I increase HP I'll look into the McLeod Master and drill mod.

THANX

My understanding is that GM solved that problem after the 00 model. Your car should have the upgraded hydraulics already on it. The service bulletin that I read stated that the problem was on the 98, 99, and 00 model. What they did was used a restrictor valve that would slow the fluid being pushed from the slave to the master. This would reduce driveline shock and was suppose to increase the longevity of the driveline. What really happened was it caused the driver to unknowingly slip the **** out of his clutch. I installed the unit that you car came with in my bro-in-laws 99 SS after a failed attempt using the Mc Cleod unit and we have not had any problems with it. He is pushing 850RWHP out of his car.

I thought the '01+'s still had the restriction, but got upgraded hydraulics. I dunno, I've got probalby near 100 passes on my car, never did the drill mod, and I've never had a problem grabbing gears on WOT shifts.

01+'s still have the restriction in the line. The drill mod is worth it.

I have an 00 car, that I did the drill mod to, with the drill bit size that install university said to use. When I upgraded to 01-02 hydraulics, the drill bit was too big, so I figured that the restriction was no longer there...
