Default T56 steel 3/4 fork

Hey guys bear with me Im a muncie guy lol.... Can you swap the fork on a T56 with out tearing the sucker apart? I want to do the fancy steel fork upgrade. On a old school tranny you can pull the old one off put new one. same deal? Thanks

Nope. You have to take the case completely apart to get to it, which means that you have to pull everything down to that level. You only have to pull off the 5-6 gear to get to the second piece of the case, but it's a hassle just to change it if it's not giving you any problems. But.....yes, you can just pull the old one off, put the new one on and button everything back up once you get to it.

The 3/4 fork is internal. perhaps the old -school fork you reference was an external clutch fork( LT1s had 'em)

Yes you do have to take her apart to get the shift fork out.

By old school he is referring to the Muncies of the past that had a small cover on the side of the tranny which the shift forks were secured with. It is very handy if you bend a fork, but unfortunately no such thing with the T56.
