only wasy you hit 65 is either if you were shiting at 7500k rpms on stock gearing....or you have 2.73s in the back and were shiting around 7k.

I've never understood this... how does the tire height (40/45/50 etc.) affect anything? Is there one that you should want over the others? The reason I ask is because I got a set of tires for free (can't bitch, right) but their height is 40.

So am I slower than I was with my 50s?

If the tire is taller than stock, your Speedo (without recalibration) will show a slower speed than you are traveling. If the tire is shorter than stock, your speedo will show faster than you are traveling.

Also, the second number in a tire size (275/45/17) is what percentage of the width (275/45/17) the height is. Meaning that for the aforementioned size, the sidewall height would be +/- 123.75 mm (45% x 275). What is the complete size of your tires?

You are not necessarily slower, but your car may say you are.

ignore what your speedo says if you change the tire height. a taller tire will have to use more rpms to go to the same speed....and smaller height tire will have to use less rpms to get to the same speed.

Think you got it backwards, Smaller tires make the driveline spin faster to go the same speed, Larger tires have the reverse effect, they spin slower but still cover the same speed... Changing your tire size is basically changing your final gearing, like changing the gears in the rear end in a sence, Becuase changing the tire size effects the ratio's of all gears..
