Unhappy car feels unstable sometimes during hard shifts

I have a 1999 trans am M6 with 38k miles. As I give it WOT from 1 -> 2 sometimes i feel like the shifter shake and the car feels unstable like as if traction control was limiting the car from giving the engine gas. It also happens sometimes when I throw it from 2 -> 3. What could this be? I never have problems driving normally. Gears always go in smoothly. Are my transmission mounts possibly bad? I did let some ******* drive my car once and he threw my shifter from 3rd maxed to 2nd. He immediately took it out of 2nd gear.

Probably bent pushrods, or worse.

with 38k on the car I doubt its the tranny mounts but could be. does your shifter move alot when you get on the gas in all gears or only some?

The car will drive fine when i'm normally driving. When I give it a WOT, only sometimes the car feels like it stops accelerating as fast and I feel a shaking coming from the shifter. It's as if the car loses power.

how do I know if I bent a rod or what? I'm thinking about changing out all 16 pushrods. I think that should be around 120 for the rods.

If your friend jammed the car into second at the top of 3rd gear, and let the clutch out, your car say about 8450 rpms momentarily. You most likely have bent pushrods, but it could be valves or lifters. Since it is not knocking you hopefully didn't spin any bearings. If you want to see go to http://www.f-body.org/gears/ and use the variables 275/40/17 (245/50/16 is the same overall height) for tire height, 3.42 for axle ratio, 9000 for redline and 2.66, 1.78, 1.3, 1.00, 0.74, and 0.50 for the gears. Find the top speed in 3rd gear at 6200 rpms, and then find the same speed in the 2nd gear column.

I wouldn't really know how to check the clutch. I am thinking about just taking my car to GM and seeing what they diagnose it with. Unless there is a cheaper way to check all of this.

To check the clutch, put it in 6th on the highway, and floor it, if the revs climb and the speed doesn't, the clutch will need replacement soon, if the speed and revs climb, at a relatively equal rate, the clutch is generally ok
To check the pushrods ls1howto, has several how to's on removing and replacing the rocker arms and pushrods, (one is the cam install, the other is for the yellow terra rockers) once you get them out roll them on a flat surface, a pane of glass works well, if they're bent, replace the bent ones, and reinstall the good ones

I tried to see if clutch slips in 6th on highway and it wasn't. I'm going to replace any bent rods that I find, if any. Also yesterday I floored it in 1st, missed second then threw it back in real quickly and from like 4k to redline I experienced bad hesitation. The power kicked back in very close to red line.

You have a motor problem. Stop beating on the car.

I honestly think it might be something alot simpler. But your description is terrible at best. Does it sound like a misfire? Any SES lights? You said acceleration feels smooth under part throttle. Go through 1st...then 2nd and then bring the car up to a decent RPM under partial throttle (4k or so) and see if the problem persists.

Bring your car to an Autozone and have it hooked to a scan tool. Check for any misfires or failing sensors

By your description it almost sounds like you are hitting the rev limiter or your traction control is on.
