Default Spec

I recently had a spec stage 3 put in(didn't have time to put it in, and it HAD to be done ASAP).. I'm still breaking it in.. 230miles and counting on it. I like it so far.. I have been taking it real easy. I go to put it in fist gear at about 25mph.. Not to release it.. just to see if it will go in gear... I had the clutch fully in.. and it grinded when I tried to put it in first.. IS it because it's not fully broke in yet?? Should this be happening? Anyone know the problem??

Your trying to put it into first in a downshift & your taking it easy on the clutch? Replace any hydraulics along w/ that clutch replacement?

New spec stage 3, new flywheel, new master cylinder, and new slave cyliner.. and I wasn't really downshifting.. When I had the clutch all the way in I just wanted to see if I could put it into first gear at about 25mph.. But it would grind. I never had any intention of releasing the clutch.. therefore never actually putting it in first gear.. Anyone know what it could be?

That was my point you are actually putting it in 1st gear. You are making the syncro go in. But should be able to do it.
Thats why I ask if any hydraulic's where done with the clutch as well? They(clutch release) are what come into play in this scenario. But if you want a clutch/trans you can beat the crap out of you have to put the money into it & maintain it.
By buying a spec you must not want to put much into it IMO.

I dont agree with that statement becouse he bought a 400 dollar clutch instead of a 1200 dollar means you wont be able to beat it ?? There are plenty here with specs that have 400 to 600 range and beat the crap out of it and still goes like the day it is installed.

i think what your describing is normal...with any clutch if you try and put it into first while you're driving it will grind. ive driven 5-6speeds all my life and as far as i can remember it would do that. has nothing to do with the clutch of choice or anything else. closest thing i can give you as an example is putting it into reverse...syncros arent moving fast enough to keep up so they must be slowed down inorder to go into reverse...first gear is similer. my example may be off but i hope you understand. any trans specialist can chime in and correct me if im wrong. hope this helps.
