Have you checked to make sure that the stop bolts aren't touching the stick in any of the gears? Some people have complained of vibrations between the two. Make sure there's enough clearance and use blue thread lock to make sure they don't loosen over time.
Also check the rubber shift boot to make sure that it's snug around the shifter itself and below the stop bolts.
I also used a paper gasket between the shifter and the trans. Don't know if it makes much difference, but it can't hurt.
I do have more sound as well, but I wouldn't describe it as overly annoying. Some sound is to be expected.

I used thin rubber maybe 1/8 thick as a gasket between the shifter and the base and between the handle and the shifter. It made a difference in some of the sound transfer. I had also tried the paper gasket with no change in sound at all. I think I got the rubber gasket at Home Depot.

The gasket between the shifter base and the top of the trans isn't going to make a difference. The sound comes from the tower vibrating against the stop bolts. Some people where wrapping electrical tape around the tower where it contacts the stop bolts. I wouldn't call it a 100% fix but it works well enough.

I dont know why, butI have never found my pro 5.0 to be loud at all. Mine has a short stick, but even so, I barely noticed a difference between it and the stock non-hurst shifter.
