Default Interesting T56 info

Thought I'd pass this on: http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/answers/pdf/t56-06.pdf

Blatently missing the Viper, Cobra-R, Aston Martin, and other non-GM uses... but the SSR T56 looks like a beefy dog worthy of a conversion.

a) 32-spline output shaft! (finally the larger GM-tranny version, Ford and Dodge have been using their 31 spline for a few years now)

b) Carbon-fiber syncro for reverse gear. (good bye brass)

c) staggard syncro teeth for sequential engaugement... lighter (faster?) shifts. (weaker syncro though?)

d) no CAGS.

e) 3.06:1 first gear.... ok that's a bit high for my 4.11 gears out back... but with 3.73's in the rear it may be perfect and allow for some better higway milage.

f) 1-piece countershaft... just like the 2003+ Vipers. 5th and 6th gear's coutershaft is now press-fit onto the shaft... no more damaged engaugement lugs.

Apparently Dextron VI fluid is the fill, and this document claims the current T56 are also certified for Dextron VI as well, but Dex III was the fill from the factory. Good to know I guess.

Good stuff in there.
