Well I think I might stop carring SPEC clutches now. Out with the old in with the new. I will now carry Ram, LS7 and Mcleod instead!

Thanks,
Joe

its the pressure plate, it just shreds to peices for some reason. I am thinking Metal quality is poor.

Wow...makes me glad my SPEC in my old LT1 never let go. That sucks for anyone who has had this happen to them.

We need to make more threads like this one - hopefully more people will stop buying them, and they'll bring the price down for the rest of us!

I bet SPEC sells 10 clutch sets per every other manufacturers 1 set. Logic tells us that because they're so popular, there will be more horror stories with the SPECs compared to other less popular brands.

Clutches have been exploding since longgg before SPEC was around...its a risk you acknowledge and accept every time you dump that left foot off the pedal.

Yes but what you don't understand is these threads are popping up every month now. Maybe the balancing is off I don't know but something is off.

Well I have had 3 specs and nothing happened like this. It does make me think to cover up my tranny with a blanket at least. Once my 3F goes out I wil not use the product anymore. I cant take the chance and really shouldnt put the spec in my car now after reading this. But this clutch is new and I have really beat on them. But I do get mine balanced before installed.

Common sense tells me that a cheap clutch would have more of a tendency to go boom. Prices that low have to come from somewhere...lower quality parts would be my guess. I'll stick with my Ram for now...it is working great for me.

This really is getting to be too much. 2 just in tampa is rediculous. Not to mention how many are around the country.

I think when my Z06 clutch goes, Ill step up to a LS7 since by then Ill be putting down a lot more power

take it from me i went from spec to ls7, the ls7 is so much more streetable and grabs so much better. some jack *** at spec tried to tell me i lost 12 hp going with that clutch over their because the weight, hell i gained power just from it being able to hold up unlike that pos spec. i got my entire ls7 kit for right at $500 shipped, much better deal than spec and something that doesnt have corners cut.

I never put alot of research into it, cause SPEC is the only thing I know of, vette wise anyways but,..how much can the LS7 actually hold up to?

What flywheel would you use with this?

And by the way, i'm still waiting for the insurance to give me an answer on the hole incident. If I get no help from them,...i'm going after Spec. We're talking alot of damage to my ride.
