Default shift **** removal

Quick question, will putting a lot of torque on the shifter(pro 5.0) damage it?

I have to get a strap wrench or something on it to get it off, by hand it won't budge. When I screwed it on I put what I thought was a tiny bit of blue locktite on it, but I guess even that was enough to get it stuck on there.

Thanks in advance for any input/advice.

Can't you just un-bolt the two facteners at the shifter whe5re the stick assembly attaches? I don't think the **** has to come off.
