With all the recent SPEC blow-ups, SPEC toast after 5k miles and welded SPEC clutch to flywheel threads, I am not quite sure why people would still want them?

That maybe but there are a few stories like this one that have been posted:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/corvette-performance/425963-just-exploded-my-pressure-plate-cars-hurt.html

With pictures here:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....3&postcount=79

where the SPEC pressure plate blew up causing thousands of dollars worth of damage to the car.

Well, if you do buy the SPEC assembly, I hope you have better results than I had with the one I installed. I was not happy with mine from day one and it lasted less than 5K miles with no abuse.

Good luck fellas, and I really mean that!

If you can spend the cash, Textrailia is top of the line. I am going to run a 125 shot on my LS1 with a LS7 clutch, but I might talk to Will Baty (thats his handle on here also) who is a Centerforce dealer and sponsor, their clutches seem to do well also.. but I can't vouch for that personally

Apparently the stg 5 is still hanging in there. Talked to the guys today and they're going to attempt to tune it again with a progressive boost controller. Boost came in very early even on the dynojet last night and it started to slip at well below the tq rating... stay tuned, we'll see...?
