Default any tricks to putting tranny fluid in a T56?

alright so during my clutch swap i spilled a little fluid out of the tranny and tried putting more fluid in it but had a hell of a time trying to get the bottle turned up to pour it in. How do you guys get the fluid in? any tricks? BTW.....the tranny is already back in the car and i dont want to drive it to far before i top it off.

a bottle filler hose. Just a hose that screws to the bottle and you pump the bottle until filled.

Go to any auto parts store and buy a pump. It just inserts into the bottle and the other end goes into the fill hole. Then pump away. Also handy for getting fluid in the rearend.

Go the pump route. Works like a champ.

get tubing from the hardware store, stick a funnel in the end. run the tubing down into your engine bay into you fill hole, and just pour the atf into the funnel.. when it starts running back out the hole, its full. Don't put anthing besides dextron III into that transmissin.
why would you take the shifter out if you didn't have to?

pull the shifter espically if your doing a clutch swap as the shifter has to come out anyway. id just drain it and put in 4 new qts. plus if you drain it first it doesnt spill

I agree with filling the tranny through the shifter. Once you take the shifer out once its cake to remove/install after that. It just takes a little while for the fluid to drain down inside the tranny.

yah thanks for the info man! I have pulled my tranny out twice already so pulling the shifter is pretty much gravy by now! I was just wondering if anyone had easy tricks but removing the shifter seems like the way to go for me!

Becasue its a pain in the *** jacking the car up, you have to find tubing and a funel that will fit together, and if the car is hot/warm, you have to wait for it to cool off so you wont melt the tubing.

Dunno if this will help but I used a small water bottle drilled a hole in the cap and put a small piece of rubber hose in there so it fits tight obviously. get the bottle up there stick the hose in the hole and sqeeze the bottle until empty and repeat not the quickest way but it works.

AS red dragon said, drill a hole in the lid of a plastic bottle and insert a tight fitting plastic hose through the hole till it reaches the bottom of the bottle.fill the bottle with trans oil, insert the plastic hose into the trans fill port and squeeze the bottle.
Remember with the t56 when the oil comes to the level of the fill port to replace the plug and remove the reverse light switch from the trans and add an extra 1/2 litre of oil. This quietens the trans down so not so much gear noise at idle.
Ciao

Pulling the shifter is probably the easiest. Other wise you have to use a tube and pump it up in there.
