resurfacing flywheel necessary???

Default resurfacing flywheel necessary???

is it really necessary to resurface the flywheel when getting a new clutch??

Yes. You'll ruin your new clutch in a hurry if you don't.

some clutch companies will not warrenty there clutches if you don't turn the flywheel

What about an LS1 fly, the dealer says discard and replace?

But SPEC says you can take up to .015 off and I had a shop take .018 off to get rid of the hot spots. Should i still use or get a new one?

I had mine resurfaced & didn't worry about it. I don't know for sure how much they took off but it was still plenty thick. My flywheel had never been surfaced before, I will replace it next time.

Get a new one. If the flywheel thickness isn't right you'll have to shim things for proper clutch engagement. Additionally, if the flywheel is weakened by being out of spec it could potentially disintegrated costing you A LOT more than the flywheel and at worse could kill/maim you.
