Default grinding noise ?M6

theres something grinding or just sounds like it right uder the shifter it only does it from stop to start in first gear.And it dont do it every time when i went the track saturday it was making the noise real bad but once i ran a few times down the track it was fine no noise until the next day it seems the harder i drive the car the less i hear the noise,my car has about 70k miles on it the spec 3 has about 3 or 4k and i already changed the fluid to syncromax,thanks for any help or advise.

Sounds like the synchro teeth on the gear might be going out. There are several things that cause grinding all of which should be fixed at the first change you get. The longer you wait the worse it will get.

the synchro max is the problem. It will not work with 98-00 t56. I know this because I used it with no prior tranny issues. Once it went in I started having problems like yours. I went back to regular atf after a month but the damage was done and I had to get a whole new transmission.
