Just did the LS7 Clutch install
My dad and I finally got to put the LS7 clutch in. At the same time replaced my Mcleod Adjustable Master Cylinder with new stock one. Also got a new slave. One note I must add on this install is that the stock clutch bolts did not go into my LS2 Flywheel. I went to Lowes and bought Grade 8 3/8 bolts with lock washers. Thats the only issue I had. Now that its installed I have a couple of questions.
1. How do I make my stock master cylinder adjustable?
2. How long is break in for a clutch?

2. 500 miles of city driving/short trips (not too much highway driving staying in one gear for long periods of time).

Given all of GM OE stuff in their kingdom is metric (except GMPP crate motors) how in the He** did you get SAE Bolts to work? The OE bolts you couldn't get to work were metric. How did the SAE go in? Hopefully, the answer isn't lots of force.

The holes are 10mm, and a 3/8" bolt is 9.5mm. The pitch is probably close enough to allow it for a short distance, given that the threads are going to be a little loose.
The bolt holes in the flywheel are supposed to be snug for 10mm (there are actually different classes of "fit" for different applications) and it isn't unusual for the bolts to be difficult to thread in very far with your fingertips.
Even if the 3/8 bolts held when they were torqued, they are hanging on by a thread, so to speak, and it really isn't safe to keep driving it that way. The legs your pressure plate removes could be yours
Hate to say it, but I'd park it and put in the proper bolts NOW. Check the bolt holes carefully, and if the threads are damaged bite the bullet and get a new flywheel (but you MIGHT get lucky and still find good threads). It sucks, but not as much as it's going to suck WHEN it fails.

Thanks for clarifying my foggy math conversions. I had the 3/8 bolt as being slightly larger. You're right. It's slightly smaller and is NOT a good match for such an item. Too much potential for disaster.
