The tranny out of an LS1 GTO will definitely fit an LS1 Camaro, 'cause I've got one in my 2001 Z28. I don't know if there are any differences for the LS2.

The GTO gearing is different. It's the same as a C5 Z06. 4th is the same, first is 2.97 vs your stock 2.66, and 6th is 0.57 or 0.62 (forgot which) vs your stock 0.5.

First and second are actually closer together in the GTO vs the fbody despite the lower first, but the gap from three to four is a little wider. 5th is closer to 4th in the GTO. So, you can't really call the 2.97 a wider-ratio gearbox, it's just distributed differently.

The GTO synchros are also better.
