What do you guys think?

Would it work with a ram powergrip/spec 3/centerforce df clutch?

Anyone use them or know anyone that has used them?

I would avoid that one. Go with a known name, so you know what you are getting. I have the SPEC Stage 3F w/ SPEC Billet steel flywheel. I love it and have had no problems. The flywheel wan something like $250-$300

I bought that directly from the guys at AMS...I'm installing it with my SPEC 3 with a new master and slave on the 10th.

Those guys aren't a sponsor but they also aren't Advance Auto...they build race and drag cars for a living. I think it will be a quality piece.

I just bought the 23lb one and my buddy also has the 23lb one with a ram power grip hd installed in his car. No problems for him. I'm waiting to install in mine with the same ram clutch.
If it makes you feel any better they are a Sponsor on www.ls2.com.
Seems pretty reputable to me.

AMS is local and located in Bossier City up in north La. They are known locally as Kittlers Automotive Machine Shop. While I have heard some good things about them, I have also heard bad things...depending on who is working for them at that time. All that being said, when it came time for me to purchase a new flywheel (yesterday), I went with a Textralia setup. I figure this is a job I really don't want to do multiple times, so it is not worth the risk of using cheap parts.

i put one in with my centerforce and it works great, they make a real nice product and was at my doorstep in 1 day. The guys over there are real nice and will help you in any way they can. just give them a call and you will see what i am talking about. I bought the one that was 2lbs lighter than stock, works great for me

How do you get a hold of the slightly lighter one instead of the 18 lb?

I would rather have one that is over 20lbs, for driveability reasons.

I feel a lot better since some of you guys have tried it with some aftermaret clutches.

TransSlam....is your centerforce the 12' dual friction version?....because I am wondering if this will work with a 12" disc. And I am considering that clutch.

thanks all

you don't need to use an ultra weight flywheel.... although it is rotating mass, the flywheel helps store torque in between shifts... so it's not the end of the world to not have a lightened one.... that's why I just went with the ls2 flywheel on my ls7 clutch :-\

I agree. For thoes with the 23lbs flywheels, thats not really worth the extra cost to me considering the stock piece already comes in at 24lbs. This flywheel has an aluminum surface, meaning it will wear faster than the Fidanza with the steel friction surface. Not to mention the Fidanza flywheel with the steel surface comes in at 12lbs compared to this one that comes in at 17.5lbs.

They advertise it to be 3 lbs lighter than stock, and made entirely from steel.

Im not sure I want the one from the link now that I have went to there website and found the 3lb lighter than stock version. Some people complain about driveability with too light of a flywheel.

Extra cost? How does 150 shipped to your door sound?
I am not going to put a resurfaced stock flywheel on my car....have to worry about shimming....if they went too far....balancing etc etc.
IF this is a quality peice I would rather save 100-150 bucks and buy this one.

I dont see in the link where the 17.4lb has an aluminum surface? Supposed to be 4340 Steel.

Where did you see this at?

As Galen said, their a local shop here in town. I stay away from there unless I need a part that they don't have anything to do with, like head gaskets or bolts in a pinch. FWIW, they don't make these flywheels. There a mass produced product sold in quanity. AMS buys the cores and may surface and balance them. Kinda like the rods they sell. Basically Eagles, but they buy them blank, do minor machine work, and call it theirs. When it came to getting my flywheel I got a billet steel spec. You should also be aware of WHICH SFI rating it got. There are diffrent levels.

Can you tell about the different SFI ratings? They have a yellow sticker on their flywheel that says SFI approved Spec 1.1 B083083. Also these same #'s are scribed on the flywheel. I really don't know what the different ratings or levels as you stated so would you please let me know if it is an exceptable SFI rating.
