will the t56 work???? A friend of mine has a 67 camaro with a motor out of a 1990 caprice, he said it's a 5.0 tpi...would the t56 work with this motor or not

If you get the LT1 model and the release system from a pre'98 4th gen Fcar it will work . You will have fittment problems into the tunnel and will have to be creative with a shifter/ linkage. A Tremec TKO might be a better way to go.

He was told that the manual tranny out of a 6 cylinder s10 will work with it but I thought that it would be sweet to put a t56 in
