Default brand of atf for t56?

just wondering if it mattter what brand atf to use the tremec t56, im gonna chnage my tranny fluid soon just wonderin if it makes a diffrence, is one brand better than another if so whats the better brand to use

Dexron III or GM Synchromesh are usually the standard methinks

it's been debated back and forth to hell though

i know what type of fluid, im asking if there is a better brand of dexron 3 or is any name brand ok

Do not use an ATF Based fluid. They have been known to cause issues with the T56 and has been documented. Use only Synchromesh!

what about the redline mtf is that good in the T56 ?

I fully agree with you, but he specifically asked for Dex 3 brands. I might even throw caution to the wind and try a synthetic synchromesh fluid (Specialty Formulations MTFglide). Some have used it for 5K+ miles with NO problems and claim it shifts like "silken butter". Who knows.

I have a h/c ss with 83,000 and 1500 passes at the track and the tranny has never been touched except for clutch changes. I use DexronIII. So I call BS!!!

i used royal purple max atf and it worked great.

yeah ive read thru that thread already thanks but most people just say "i used dexron III" and not any specific brand

who makes syncromesh and what stores carry it?? is it going to mess me up since i already used an ATF fluid in there??

Theres a Pennzoil Synchromesh and then Royal Purple has their stuff called Synchromax. Its the same stuff.
