question about gears and what happens when it grinds
Ok tonight i ran into this swapped b16 in a hatchback.. well i usually baby the hell out of this car but tonight i got into it a good bit just to shut this car up next to me that was screamin 500$ lets go out the window. Just as i shifted into 4th i had the clutch down and just as i came together i thought i was in and it felt like a really small "GR" when i wanted to go in 4th and i got off of going into gear instantly. I was real worried cause I never do this.. NEVER. so now i'm like what should i do it wasn't bad at all but it still happend.

As they say, that'll probably leave a mark... The good news is that if feels OK now, it'll probably be fine; just battle scarred. Check out the T-56 Rebuild (a sponsor) site for some gnarly pics of trashed gears...

You just polished a few teeth in places they weren't mean't to be. Since you didn't keep grinding it the teeth probably aren't out of line, missing, or broken, and you're probably OK. You might want to be sure of why you didn't get it into 4th, though. Was it 3/4 synchro, or some other tranny wear issue, etc.
