Default Getting best Gas mileage?

Ive been a speed demon lately and am getting shoddy gas mileage. I am 100% it is from too much pedal so I would like to find a happy medium.

What shift patterns work the best for fuel efficiency in the city. Also, what percent throttle and what speeds do you shift at?

What seems to work for me is starting out in 1st and just barely use it before shifting over to 2nd...1st is barely ridden up to 1500rpm (before the CAGS kicks in....yes I still have CAGS.. ).Just enough to get her moving.

I ride 2nd all the way up to about 25mph and shift over to 4th.I hardly ever use 3rd...Usually I will cruise in 4th when going 30-35mph...40 to 50mph I use 5th....All this with about 1/4 throttle maybe a bit more.55mph+ is 6th.

Of course when you feel like DRIVING...All gears get used and the smile factor goes way up...

Make sure all the usual stuff is up to date...plugs,air filter, tire pressure..etc..

You would be surprised how much of an effect the little things make with gas milage...
