I was just about to make a simular thread, good thing I scrolled down a little. I have another question to add to his. Is it worth the money to convert a car or would you be better off just selling the a4 car and buying a factory m6 car?

I'm close to $2200 so far. I'm still waiting for parts.
I got just the trans, shifter, pedal assembly with switches, crossmember used. All the hydrualics, pedal pads, wiring ends, console top, lower shift boot, and Z06 clutch with flywheel and slave from GM. And an aftermarket short shifter and ball.
I already have HPTuners to reflash the VCM, delete CAGS and delete any codes.
I'm also in the middle of a rear gear swap to go along with the trans. Thats roughly $300.
Doing all the work myself.
Read the sticky posts in both the automatic and manual trans forums, they are different.

I would think it would be easier to trade cars to go from a4 to m6. M6 to a3/a4 is pretty easy, but the other way around seems like it would be big headaches to me. That's just my 2 cents though

This is the "idea" way if you're thinking about doing this. I choose this route and final cost was around $400 after buying some needed tools, new slave, and misc. items.

It helps to have someone to help out if you plan on doing this yourself which I think anyone is capable of. Just take your time on things and read all the write-ups and the swap should be a breeze.

A4 to M6 is actually much much easier than the other way around. We did the swap going both ways a couple of months ago. The best thing is to find someone who wants to swap as well. This way the cost will be minimal.
