Default Spec clutch is wearing out...Remove slave shim to get more life?

I've had a spec stage 3 for 20,000 miles now. It started engaging just off the floor when it was new, but now it is barely grabbing just before the pedal stops coming back. The slave must be bottoming out before the full clamp pressure is applied to the disc. If I push in the clutch while driving and rev it up and dump the clutch, it slips and I have to get off the gas or I'll fry the clutch.

If I pull the slave shim how much more life will I get out of this clutch? Has any one tried this?

As the clutch disk wears, the spring fingers will move closer to the TOB. So it is certainly possible that you might get a little more life from the clutch by removing the shim. UNless the disk is already worn so thin that the spring has lost its clamping force. IN that case its time for a new clutch or at the very minimum a new disk.

Thanks dude! Too bad it's a PITA to get that shim out! I think I will just go ahead with the new LS7 Clutch.

I was going to say, if you dug that far, you might as well put something new under there.
