NEW Spec 3+
Now I know SPEC HAD issues...
But what do people think of their new spec 3+.
My Buddy John just put one in his 03 cobra. He had the older spec 3. He didnt mind the old one, had little chatter. Did 2 years of drag racing going 10s (Runs 10.30s on eaton/spray). It held up good so he went with the new spec 3+. He absolutely loves it and has NO CHATTER and VERY LIGHT peddle feel. So the question did spec get the new 3+ right? Or should I still be weary...
Anyone running the clutch feedback welcome.
My combo will be ms3 cam package and a 100-150 shot.
Will it hold?
Thanks guys.

From what I hear its supposed to be the ****, I am switching from a stage 4 (no problems at all) to this stage 3+ to get the better street manners and will also have some spray on top or 400+rwhp.
I read some where (think Thunder Racings web site) that is have the torque rating of a stage 5 but great street manners!
Stage 3+ - Features a streetable high clamp pressure plate and full face carbon semi-metallic disc. Listed as an upgrade to the stage 3, it offers torque capacities more comparable to the stage 5 but with drivability equal to, and in some cases better than, the stage 3. The high capacity and excellent drivability characteristics of this clutch is a result of years of research and development for this SPEC exclusive disc compound.

This will be my next clutch when my current spec3 goes out. I've been hearing really good things about it. As for exploding clutch's, IMO it's the matter of installing them correctly. There are tons of guys running spec clutches that have not had one single problem....me being one of them.

well I have had mine in for almost 300 miles, so it is kind of hard to tell because I haven't got on it. The clutch engagement is great and no chatter anymore.
Very streetable in my mind.

I have a spec 3+. I've only driven it 250 miles but there is no chatter, soft pedal, and smooth engagement like my Z06 clutch only quicker. But mine doesn't seem to want to disengage. The engagement point is right off the floor. Spec told me to put another shim in it but I might try an adjustable master first.

i have it now. it is a grabby bitch,if i don't get the r's up it will shake the car. it does drive nice, but i only have 600ish mi on it so i have no clue to how long it will hold what i'm going to do to it. the pedal is a little stiffer then my st3. and really no chatter.so far i like it,but it has not proven it self yet.

Have had mine in for several months now but havent put but 26 miles on it...the clutch did not come with a slave. i do recommend that you upgrade it with the clutch though. it can be purchased directly from gm. I put the fidanza flywheel in with the clutch and like what i have felt so far. time will tell how well it is actually built

As for the exploding thing, I've never heard of any of the other clutch's exploding. If it really was an installation problem, then wouldn't we also hear about other brand clutch's exploding? I'd really like to consider this clutch lol, but I can't get over the explosion pics I've seen on here. Now is the 3+ smoother and easier to drive than the stage 3, or is the main benefit more holding power? Seems like I heard somewhere that the 3+ would last longer also.....any truth to that?

So it looks like the spec 3+ has good reviews from most.
I am pretty set here but the cartek setup is $629 which includes modifying your stock master. cartek clutch link
Its one or the other.

My spec st 3 didnt explode on me but on the disk where the springs are recessed came apart in 3 diffrent spots and the springs came out after 800 miles and were jammed between the pp and flywheel. I have installed 25-30 different f- body clutches with NEVER any issues before. Im on the fence about trying the new one that is supose to replace the one that **** on me but Pete the owner of spec claims the problem is fixed

I've had a Spec 3 for aprox 5000 miles. The only real issue that I've come across is the balance - which might be some of their issue. I had mine balanced and have been pretty satisfied.
......I will probably go with the the 3+ on my rebuild - and have that balance checked as well

I have had the 3+ for 3k and about 6-7 6k launched on slicks with over 500 hp and it works great. pedel feels stock, no chatter and it holds up awsome. I would definetly recomend the clutch.

i dont care if they did fix the exploding problem, its a problem that i can fix with a different clutch and not worry about a spec 'sploding. grant it there is still a chance any clutch can exlpode, i havent heard as many horror stories about any other clutches except spec.
