Default Master cylinder question

I know for the slave cylinder they updated it in 01 and should be replaced when installing a new clutch. Did GM change the master cylinder? I was told and read on here that when I install my LS7 clutch I will only need a slave and make sure I do the drill mod. I also hear an adjustable master is the best way to go, but if you dont have the $$ for one then the stock one will be fine, I just need to know if I can use my stock 99 one (30Kmiles) and it will be fine. mods are in my sig(if you want to consider them much)

If you're not having any problems with the hydraulics, you'll be fine with the stocker. Just make sure you do the drill mod and bench bleed the whole thing. The reason I went to an adjustable master is because my clutch was sticking to the floor and heard that an adjustable mc could fix it. I adjusted it to be slightly longer and the problem was solved.

Where can the adj. master cylinder be bought at? I've decided it's time to do one, since I have a centerofrce DF , AL flywheel, new tranny, and slave cylinder and still have the clutch not release all the way under heavy driving

I had issues with the clutch glazing/overheating pedal felt very soft and clutch caught on the floor. Let it cool and it was fine for normal driving. typical pre 01 problems. I was told drill mod and 01 slave will be fine from quite a few people. I want to know if they changed the master in 01?

Here is a link for the drill mod

guys u need to do the drill mode to remove the pedal sticking to the floor. the master cylinder hole is to small when (more) clamp pressure is applied the the flywheel. not enough fluid is applied to the slave cylinder. (just think about it).
drill mode u need to remove the master cylinder and do it on a bench clean surface. ls1howto.com has a full discription...

Before you drop $300 on an adjustable master, make sure that:

a) you are using 01-02 master AND slave cylinders

b) you have done the drill mod

c) your clutch is fully bled and the fluid is in good condition

Look HERE for instructions to the drill mod. That link covers removing the old master, doing the drill mod, and reinstalling (but you would be reinstalling your own master instead of an adj. one).

It's not that bad of a job, maybe plan on an hour or two.
