Default Another Ram bites the dust...

I have the HD and a spring came out of the disk ruining everything. Gotta love these clutches! I guess its either lose your legs or replace your clutch and flywheel all the time. I guess we cant win with clutches Guess Ill need another flywheel. This was a NEW Ram billet steel piece.

Who else has had a spring come out? Pics to come soon.

Yep. The SAME thing happened to me a few months or so ago. First of all, who did you buy your clutch from? Depending on who, it's possible for you to get the clutch replaced for free. Especially since the spring popped out. As soon as I found out what happened to mine, I made some calls. Send me a pm and I can lead you in the right direction.

if youre going turbo just throw in a spec 5 and call it a day. They arent the sprung hub clutches so they shouldnt blow up like the 3's and they squeal for a bit at the beginning and its almost gone after a few hundred miles.

I dropped the turbo idea and selling my kit. There was a stage 5 that blew up taking out a Vette here locally

TSP will definately help you out, or they should atleast. Also contact Mike at RAM. Good luck.

When mine popped out, all I was doing was backing the car up and BAM, it happened.

did you notice in that thread that BOTH cars were Vettes not Fbody's,ie different clutch.Sounds like Spec had quality control issues with the vette clutches. And the spec 5's dont have sprung hubs which are the 1's prone to blow like my spec 3,which didnt blow and lasted 40,000 Miles that everyone loves to hate.

Spring hubs are generally not a good idea with metallic friction. Many manufacturers try to make the aggressive friction materials more streetable by using the spring hubs. In reality, the solid hub disks will generally chatter less with metallic friction.

I blew up an unsprung stage 4. Its not the friction disk thats the problem, its the preasure plate that lets go.

Its not a bad thing to send it in just get the part number and qc# off of it you never know they may mix it up a bit but who knows.

Samething here, we have to send it back for inspection. Blah! I think I was backing the car up as well when it let go. Better not get a replacement and the same damn thing happens again.
