Default Clutch bolts

Hey all!

I have my tranny ripped out now and after having to grind one of the flywheel bolts off due to the previous shop installing it "Spiritly" I am now putting in a new setup. I found out that the flywheel torque specs are 35-40, but what are the clutch PP torque specs? Also, Do I have to use "Flywheel" bolts for the flywheel? Or can I use any type of bolt (seeing that the GM ones SUCK!)

Uh, don't torque your flywheel to crank bolts to 35 to 40 foot pounds, the specs are 74 foot pounds. And you should degrease the threads and use red loctite.

Whatever bolt you put in there is GOING to be made for an LS1 (whether GM or ARP, etc) or had through a specialty bolt supplier since they are 11mm and god knows the length, I've asked here four times to people with ARP's in their hands and no one will bother to measure one. Pressure plate bolts are 10mm x 1 1/8", I used grade 12.9 allen head torqued to 80 with red loctite.

Awesome information. Much thanks. And yes, I would have had my bolts WAY under torqued if you hadn't chimed in! Extra thanks for that!

And there is a TQ sequence to go in when doing the pressure plate bolts... I can't remember what it is off the top of my head, but I remember there is a sequence...

Yeah, I measured my flexplate bolts and ARP flywheel bolts and they were the same length. That is good for me because I was able to use the ARP's with the TCI flexplate now going in the car.

Thats not what I meant. I mean your supposed to torque it at like 15ftlbs, then 35, then whatever the final number is...

Sorry, I had to try on my new "captain obvious" cape and speedos...

I just tightened them all to hand tight with the socket, Torqued them once, then did one final pass with the torque wrench just to make sure. I used lottite on the threads and apr lube under the caps.
