Default clutch break in?

how many miles do most of you guys poke around on a new clutch before giving it hell? I know the manufacturer says 400 miles but im sure they are just covering their own *** haha. A few local tranny guys say 50 miles and its good to go and im close to 200 miles and have a few races lined up for tonight that ive been looking forward to. Opinion?

btw its a centerforce DF clutch

So did you wind up running with it? Im not gonna give it a strict breakin period exactly, Im just going to gradually increase how hard I drive it over the next week or so. 80 easy miles so far and it feels great. Illhave the full 500 by next monday, im sure.

well car lucked out by having weather go south on us so looks like she is getting a few more miles on it before tearing it up. Only real concern i have is i did attempt 1 shift from 2-3 since hearing of the problems people have been having and believe it or not im thinking i am another victim. It seemed to more or less block me out of the gear, no grinding or anything just no shift above 5500 rpm.

You sure its not just that youre not pushing the pedal down far enough? I know i was used to the old clutch that engaged 3/4 of the way up.
