Default Could wrong fluid cause a grinding when power shifting?

Just installed dr. evil built t-56. Im running a specIII+, i took it to the track last night and tried power shifting for the first time and almost every time i grinded the gear and couldnt get it in. This even happened when not power shifting just shifting fast. Im running a synthetic Mercedes-Benz auto trans fluid becuase i had it laying around at work. Could this cause this situation?

IMO you should use the recommended fluid. The synchronizers are in a sense brakes for the transmission gears, they rely on friction to slow the gear down so they can mesh easier with the slider, if they don't slow down they grind.
