Question feels like clutch is slipping

I just bought this car from my brother, who bought it from another guy who said he put in a ram hd clutch about 5000 miles ago (now 7000 with my brother's miles) it catches great on the street, and it doesn't rev disproportionately when i'm in gear, but if i'm running it hard right when i go to shift it feels like its not catching right away - the rpms rev and the car does not get up and go right away. now my logic would lead me to believe that the clutch is going, but seeing as it has so few miles on it, and its not giving all the symptoms of a bad clutch, what could this mean?

It sounds like a bad clutch to me. And the previous another drove it hard all the time its possible that's worn out.

it also needs to be tuned, should i try to replace the clutch before i get it tuned, or would that make a difference?
