Question interlock shift plate replaced with t5 part

I just got my ws6 from the tranny shop(had a total repair), and the mechanic said that he replaced a part from the t56 tranny with a t5 part. The part looks like a hook or an s piece of metal, I think it is the interlock shift plate or shift interlock plate. He said that the original part made the shifting kind of loose and this part would make it better. I do notice that the **** is kind of stiff and it feels different from before the repair. Is this o.k., will it affect my gears, is the original part better? I do not know much about trannys and I do not want the mechanic to be doing something that will mess up my tranny. If anybody could give me some advice I would really appreciate it. Thanks
Another thing , the car feels heavier and it seems like the rpm's go higher than before in between regular shifting on the street.

If he put a T5 shift link in place of the T56 part he did you no favors. Go to a REAL trans rebuilder. Ild get that out of there.

The interlock plater is under the shifter on a T5, and it's in the middle of the case on a T56. He did not use a T5 plate in a T56. I could *maybe* see the interlock piece which is above that plate working in a T56 but not really.

The T5 and T56 interlock linkages are similar but there are no parts that interchange. The shift plate is the part that goes in the shift fork.It may be possible to actually assemble a T5 part into a T56 but it will not function correctly( if at all). JMD You may be thinking of the guide plate, a completely different linkage part and also not interchangeable between T5 &T56.

I just replaced the early 2-piece (92-94??) guide / guide plate on a 94 F-body box with the 1 piece guide & new guide plate. I don't know what I was thinking.
