I was trying to undo the bleeder valve on the trans and the valve was at a weird angle and the socket fell inside the trans. Will this break things if I drive it? My magnet wont fit down there only option to pull trans I guess... Well need to do clutch install anyways dut damn This is on 02 z28. Any help appreciated. Thanks

If you cannot get it out by any other means your gonna need to pull the trans. I wouldn't risk driving it like that.
Get a bendable magnet & try that out. There are some good quality ones out there.

This happened to me about 6 years ago. I ended up having to partly remove the transmission enough to stick a pen magnetic through the opening to fish out the socket. I did drive the car for a couple of day. It's really not a good idea because I could hear the socket bounce around in the bellhousing. It would eventually stop but start all over after hitting a bump on the road. The socket was beatup when I took it out.

screw that... I would get a hole saw and put a hole in the bellhousing and get a rubber grommet to fill it afterwards, that's cause i'm lazy though.

No... All You Have To Do Is Get A Good Magnet Pull The Starter And It Will Come Out Threw The Starter Hole Use The Magnet On The Other Side Of The Bellhousing And It Will Be Strong Enough To Pull It Up The Side And Out The Hole For The Starter

Thats not a bad idea, maybe a 3/4 hole. I wouldn't even start the car with a socket in there.

Try a magnet on a string through the starter hole. I would not cut a hole in the bellhousing.
