Default Shifter Handles

i am going to be purchasing the Pro 5.0. can not decide what handle to go with. Which handles have ab angle to them? Here are my choices..

Pro 5.0 Handle - is ok, but still too high

UMI - seems to be good.. Does it have an angle?

LSS - is way too damn short form the pics i have seen

here is a pic from the UMI website. WHICH is the UMI?

And yes, the UMI is angled. That's the one I recommend, however, you might want to try cutting the pro 5.0 stick down an inch first. You might like it better.

I think the ones made for mustangs are angled like that because the shift is so damn close to the radio/hvac/whatever so it is angled like that to set it further back. This is not a problem in the f-bodies so when you asked if the UMI is angled, I was thinking yes it is angled towards the left but not forward or backwards.

I used to have the UMI short stick on a factory base and I loved it. It was really cool the way it sat next to my leg. It was kind of funny how it looked like I was in 3rd gear when I was backing up.

In anyone's opinion; Is there any advantage to using a UMI short stick over a cut down Pro 5.0 handle (on a Pro 5.0 of course)?? Is it stronger/lighter etc.?

Might be a dumb question... but can you just cut 1.5" off the pro 5.0 stick and still thread on a shift ****??? Or do you have to re-thread some of the stick? Im using one of those hurst classic shift ***** with the little stopper nut that goes under it. Just wondering how much thread comes on the stock pro 5.0 stick. Im swapping my b&m out for one of those and I dont like how short some of the aftermarket handles are...so cutting sounds like a good idea. Thanks!

cutting the pro 5.0 is a good mod, has plenty of threads to go all around for a new shifter ****.. there is no need to worry!

Easiest way to tell, I would think, is to look at the ****. Does it have a big H on it? Another way might be to check the handle itself, I'm not too sure how the stock one is, but the hurst one has a curve in it just like the black one at the top of this thread.

Can you just cut the stock stick, rethread and go with that?

The stock shifter still has a rubber spacer at the base of the handle which makes the shifts seem mushy. Its there to absorb noises so that people wouldnt complain about it. Even if you cut it down and rethread it, its still gonna be mushy.
