Default New spec stage III = moderate chatter

Is it normal for a brand new Spec III clutch to chatter during the break-in I put 16 miles on it tonight (hopefully I can put 484 tommorrow so I can race it tommorrow night) and the warmer it got the more the clutch chattered
in the trouble shooting sheet that comes with it there are 7 possibilities one being "not broken in" some of the others dont really apply because I know for sure they are not the problem. The possibilities include

1.) "bent clutch disk due to hainging transmission on clutch during installation"

I used a transmission jack, and a lift for the install dont believe that me shaking the tranny trying to get the input shaft to line up would bend the clutch.

2.) missalignment of clutch and transmission (how is this one even possible its all bolted up correctly and torqued snug

has anyone else experienced this symptom?
what was the culprit?

Mine stayed forever.. but more than likely yours will go away. Youll want alot of city miles, hwy doesnt really do much for breaking in the clutch.

Its amazing to me that people expect a clutch with a more aggressive disk to drive like a stock clutch. Some chatter should always be expected.

Yes, do this. I also added poly motor mounts and I have zero chatter now. Yes, I still had some chatter after 9K miles.

Good luck

Steve.

Our stage 4 chattered like a sob until we went with the 4.70 gear. No chatter now It is to be expected and make sure you breakin the trans before you take it to the track

Thanks

I have a spec 3+ and mine chattered just a little bit during breakin and it doesnt chatter at all anymore, it drives just like stock except the pedal is a little stiffer. It rocks!

Don't forget,Miles aren't the only thing that breaks in a clutch or new tranny, it is heat cycles too.You can put 600 miles on it in a day but it won't be fully seated.

well I managed to drive the car all day (like 10 hours to get to the magic 500 mile mark) the clutch seems alot better now, still has a little chatter but its bearable...
took it to the track too but didnt fair so well on the ET streets
I have never driven a manual car with slicks before so I got no clue how to launch it, only could get a 1.73 60' the car bogs no matter what I do
ill bring the revs to 5k and dump the clutch it will pop the wheels up, then bog
tried going to 4k and slipping the clutch out, and it will slip slip slip BITE! bog! fall on its face... is it just lack of horsepower or what? I could only manage a 12.25 @ 112.65 when ive gotten 11.90 @ 119 on nittos in good air.

your making 400whp and have 4.30's i dont see how it doesnt launch well, especially from 5k

maybe you need to slip it a bit from 5k, not really sure because i launch at like 3k and spin real bad on my street tires lol, so cant really help you much
