What tranny plug is this? C6 Corvette
I don't have a service manual for the C6 yet, anyone know what this plug on the bottom (driver's side) of the 6-speed manual is?
...and why it get hot enough to melt itself?
It was plugged in properly, just got hot enough to melt. I think I may have pinched a wire somewhere while reinstalling my drivetrain. Now with the key off, it sounds like my fuel pump is still circulating the fuel inside the tank. Fun!

probably a short somewhere, which sucks!

Come to think of it: It could be posiible if you have a faulty/disconnected ground somewhere as well.... My stoplights once tried to ground through the dashlights when I had a bad ground at the rear of the car.

That is the thermistor(temp sensor) It only triggers at a temp peak so to melt like that is odd. I suspect that the wire may have been too close to the exhaust and caused the melt. It there any other electrical mal-function?

These guys are correct...its the TFT sensor. You can check the resistance of both wires, as well as shorts to ground and shorts to power in both wires. Here is the wiring diagram to aid in your diagnostics.

I'd first replace that temp sender before going on a wild chase through the wires. I had a bad reverse lockout sensor that shorted out my reverse lights every time I put the car in reverse. Turned out to be just the sensor after I spent hours tracing harnesses. G/L
