Filling tranny from shifter hole.
I know my transmission is low on fliud, but Im not sure how much. The shifts have been real notchy feeling and Im pretty sure its from the fluid. Some leaked out while doing the clutch change. I dont have a way to get the car level so how can I tell when to stop, or should I just put what I think is missing?

lol crawl under the car and find the fill plug, using some sort of pumping device (I used a squeeze bottle with a hose from the bottom of the bottle to the trans fill) and put as much fluid that will fit in it. the fill plug is on the driver's side.

You can fill it from the top. The problem is you have to fill it to the bottom of the fill plug hole. Jack it up a little on the driver's side so you can reach the fill plug. Take the fill plug off, lower the car, then fill it from the top. Jack it back up enough to reach the plug.

I see you have an A4.... its not quite as easy with an M6 because there is no dipstick. Theres a plug on the side of the tranny where your supposed to fill it, but its too high up and you cant fit the bottle all up in there.

I use a little pump for mine. I got it at advance auto for like 8 bucks. Just dump on tube into the bottle of fluid then but the other hose into the tranny and start pumping till you get all the fluid into it. Simple 10 minutes and your done.

Phlip00WS6- You can also run tubing attached to a funnel in the engine bay into the fill port - after draining it - and then you can have the car level and add the fluid that way.
When it starts coming out, you just jack the car up from the fill port side and put the plug back in. That way, no messing with the shifter and it's level when you fill it.
