Default Help diagnose weird tranny behavior.

I am new to my T/A I've had her for about 3 months now and I've noticed a few weird / random problems. It does have a CAGS elimnator if this could be linked to any problems however I dobut it does.

My car is basically stock just a corsa catback & slp intake.

Some times when I'm am at a redlight it will not go into first gear unless I release the clutch then push it back in. When ever I come to a stop I usually push the clutch in, put it in neutral and just feather the brakes to a stop. However if I'm feeling aggresive I'll downshift to 3rd only to met with problems. It basically acts like you are trying to shift to a gear without the clutch pushed in.

Finally on a few occassions I've had it pop out of gear...

The car just hit 72K and its a 1998 LS1 T/A. I baby the heck out of her usually never going past 2K but I do like to have some fun everynow and then I was planning on doing a change of the tranny fluid this week along with new brake bads.

Finally while driving to MD yesterday I noticed while at 80ish mph the clutch was harder than normal to push in...

As far as I know its on the stock clutch.

Thanks for the help.

Likely typical hydraulic problems, the master & slave. Might flush the fluid & see if it helps, but the early ones where problematic.

You have to remove the transmission to replace it. The slave cylinder is bolted to the front face of the transmission, with the input shaft going through the center of it. If you are looking for a right up, look for one about transmission replacement. Also I agree with the everyone else. Bleed the system, if that doesn't work, replace the slave. Hope this helps, and good luck.

This is more likely a damaged 3/4 fork than anything to do with your hydraulic release system. If it has not been replaced( the aluminum fork) with an iron one,it will need it.

Can you recommend anyone on the east coast to do this sort of work? What is the cost associated with replacing a fork?
