Default Clutch having trouble holding at high rpms?

When I shift at high rpms (4k+) the gear like half-grinds when shifting in like the clutch isnt engaging fully. I thought it was a clutch problem.. but I heard about shifting in to 6th @ 35 and gunning it. If the RPMS go up but car stays still you have a clutch problem. Mine didnt do that.. it just "pulled" like it normally would. Do I need to change the transmission fluid?
