Tranny Fluid(T56)

Tranny Fluid(T56) OK maybe its a stupid question but how do check the tranny fluid and how often do change it? My car has about 90k Miles on it and I Know the previous owner never checked it or added new fluid. It also grinds but rarely going into 2nd gear, could it be the fluids? Any help would be great, Thanks.

Take your shifter off and drain plug out. I would just put new fluid in it if I were you. I got rid of a grind by switching to Redline D4 ATF fluid. It is dot 3 so that should work for you. Better safe than sorry. Especially if you know that the previous owner never changed it.
