Default T56 trouble.

After a 1/4 mile pass at the track I can't get my into 1st and 2nd gear. If I move it all the way to the left it will go into 3rd and 4th. Almost like there is a bad gate. During the pass it shifted fine 1-4 and made no noise before or after, just couldn't find 1st and 2nd. Any thoughts on what it could be?

I was hoping that wasn't the case.

There is no way on this earth that you bent the1-2 **** fork( have you ever even seen one 'nilla?)You may have linkage issues but it is not a bent 1-2 fork.If it wont enter the gate, Ild check the shifter out first.

There didn't seem to be anything wrong with the shifter itself. Something internal is fudged up.

Well today is new and strange day because it went it to first and second gear when I was trying to move the car. Took it for a test drive and it seems fine. I even got pretty good to see if would still shift fine and it did. I don't know what to think. I guess it might be a problem starting in the linkage. But it seems fine now so I'm happy.

The shifter fits into a plastic socket in the trans. If the socket is loose( its supposed to be glued in) it can intermittently cause shifting probs as it mooves out of position. You may want to check that out.
