Default Tranny stuck in 4th after WOT run

I was messing around tonight and after a 1st through 4th gear WOT run, the shifter was stuck in 4th. I had to come to a stop and force it out of 4th to pop it out. After I popped it out, everything seemed fine, shifted good and no grinding. What could this be?

Seems to be driving great now. I went for a few runs, it didnt get stuck at all. I will just take it easy shifting from 3-4 from now on. I was probably a little rough on it tonight What can I say though, I just installed headers

I did some research and found the slider keys are common to break in these cars. It was pretty funny, I typed in slider in the search bar and every 3 or 4 posts was like "Help, stuck in 4th". Search function wasnt working earlier or I would have searched 1st.

Yes the sruts( keys) break but it is because the wallowed aluminum 3/4 fork over -extends them. There is an Iron 3.4 fork for the fix( its been around since ' 98)

That what i would say is your slider keys, but usually the problem continues if thats the problem.
