Default slave Shim And Drill Mod

i burnt up the spec 3 last week and now i'm putting in a spec 3+ with billet steel flywheel and 02 slave cylinder. does anyone know if i need the shim behind the slave? i heard if you have an aftermarket flywheel you don't need it but not sure. i damn sure don't want to drop the tranny again to take it out or put it in...also, while doing all this i did the drill mod to the line that goes into the master. does that mod really help out with shifting above 4k rpm's or is that just an old wive's tale? is there any bad side effects of doing the drill mod?

Use the shim. Some swear by the drill mod; I couldn't tell a bit of difference.

I've had nothing bad happen from doing the drill mod.
