Default paper/carbon fiber syncros?

I have read the 98-00 T56's used paper and the 01-02's used carbon fiber in the blocker rings. Is this true? Is one more durable than the other? What is this "paper" I am sure that is a laymen term???

Anthony you know little and less to talk about.
The paper product used in T56 blocker rings comes from the automatic transmission industry ans has been around forever. It is made with bits of paper and "other" stuff bonded together to form a sigle layer.
The Carbon material is a fabric with carbon-particles bonded to them. Actually the first T56s in Fcars had the carbon-particle parts and a change-over was made to the paper parts by Borg-Warner( prolly a cheaper/ cost driven change). It is GM you can thank for the paper and keeping it there. When Tremec took over production in '98 model year a new-improved carbon-particle part was put in Fcars were not changed right away, though). BTW Viper T56s always had the carbon-particle parts and they have been available in service for the duration.
