Default Clutch Pedal is bleeding off pressure... WTF?

I noticed today it just started. If I'm sitting at a red light when I push in the clutch to go, the clutch engages very low. And the pedal sticks to the floor. This is with a new slave (2k miles on it), new clutch (2k on it), new master (500 on it). So I tried just resting my foot on the clutch pedal while at a red light and sure enough... pressure bleeds off as if the bleeder is open. Only there's no fluid running out. This makes no sense. Anybody have any ideas?

I had the same problem on my Formula. I installed a new clutch with a new slave cylinder. After so many full pumps, it felt like there was no pressure until I did very short pumps and I got the pressure back for a while. I thought it was the McLeod master cylinder since I had it in the car for 4 years now. I thought heavy pressure plate loads wore out the seals in it. So I had my Dad rebuild it with the McLeod kit (since I am working in Germany), but now he has nothing. I have another thread asking about the same thing.

it sounds like the master cylinder is bypassing. it wont leak. rebleed, make sure its got the correct fluid. maybe find a way to plug master cyl. the GENTLY apply psi dont push hard something will pop. keep psi on it and see if the pedal sinks

Where do you plug it? How does it bypass? I am confused. I am having a very similar problem. I even disconnected the hydraulic line from the tranny and I still have no pedal.

Since mine is new, I'm just sending the MC back to Summit. They've agreed to replace it.

I too am having a similar problem. If I SLOWLY release the pedal from the floor, it will have a very firm pedal on the next two shifts... After that, the pedal is less firm and more spongy.

I've opened a master cylinder, and don't remember an o-ring in there. Just one-way valves/seals.

The drill mod is supposed to cure the slow pedal after aggressive shifts.

This isn't an aggresive shifting issue. This is a bleeding off issue. Mine is drill modded as well, for the record.

Malott is right. Just keep bleeding the system. The following way is SIMPLE, and VERY efficient. If bleeding the system does not work, you have an o'ring problem.

Mine wasn't an o-ring. It was the seals in the master cylinder (those aren't o-rings). I replaced it (Summit replaced it without a problem) and all's well.
