Default LS7 Clutch: Love it, LS2 flywheel hate it...

So, I got the LS7 clutch w/LS2 flywheel installed in the 2002 T/A. Overall, the setup holds very well. But I hate the enormous amount of mass it's added to the driveline, making the car feel like it's carrying an elephant in the back seat all the time.

Before the install, the car had a SPEC 3f, w/alum flywheel which made the car very responsive to throttle.

Two questions:

1) Will the Fidanza alum fw I see on E-bay for $300 and change, mate to the Ls1 crank properly?

(The link is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FIDAN...spagenameZWDVW)

2) Are problems (chatter/slipping/etc.) likely if I only replace the flywheel and NOT the clutch & pressure plate? By the way, the whole setup has just been broken-in and only has 900 miles...

There should not be a problem replacing only the flywheel now. The disc and plate are
still new. As far as the fit, I am really not sure.

I don't know...I went from a Ram Powergrip with billet steel flywheel (which weighed in at 58 lbs with hardware) to an RPS Stage III (which weighed in at 37 lbs with hardware), and it made a night and day difference in responsiveness. Inertial loads are kinda funny like that (more like "funny, run over your dog ha ha").

I had in a ls2fw and ls7 clutch for ~4500 miles and just switched to the fidanza ls2 fw. It seems to be a good setup

I ordered and paid for the Fidanza C6 LS2 Flywheel from Gripforce on Ebay on October 5th 2006 for my 99Z28. It is now Oct-22 and I have no flywheel and no tracking number.

On Oct-11 they claimed their flywheel shipment was delayed and it would take "a week or so" to come in.

I talked to them Thursday Oct-19 and they promised to send me a tracking number on Monday Oct-23rd.

At this point I don't believe them, especially when they continue to list the flywheel on E-bay, claiming to have 4 available.

Very frustrating because the car is still down. New LS7 clutch and new slave cylinder are waiting out in the garage......

Will find out Monday and let you know.

Just take the 125 hp jets out of your fuel/n20 nozzle and install the 150hp jets, that elephant will have left the building...Simple.

I got mine from gripforce with no problems. i late a feeling that they are getting a lot of orders now. an aluminum flywheel will offset the added weight of the clutch and bring you down to stock weight. for the other guy running the alum fw, what shim did you use? im using a spec shim and an having separation issues.

Gripforce actually e-mailed me a tracking number today.

They had it drop-shipped from Fidanza Engineering in Perry, Ohio. It should be here either today or tomorrow.

The Fidanza flywheel arrived yesterday in great shape via Fedex.

It looks almost too purdy to go on the inside of the car !
