Is this a stock clutch? Hydraulic setups don't normally reflect how hard a more extreme clutch is because pedal pressure is still around the same. My stocker was a sponge though for the record.

I have a 2000 car with the outdated hydraulics, before the clutch replacement and new style slave cylinder the clutch was really soft/sloppy. You said you had upgraded to the new slave so I would probably try the master cylinder if it was me. When you say soft, is it just pedal feel or is the clutch pedal slow to rebound on hard shifts?
