Question groaning noise?

ok. so i'm gettin a weird noise when going into gear, releasing the clutch, or holding the clutch down. it's like a groaning noise. not really a grind though. it doesn't do it with the clutch engaged though. any ideas what this could be? it's driving me crazy!!! it seems like something isn't releasing all the way. any ideas would be awesome.
