Default Tranny swap question.

I am seriously considering swapping my A4 for an M6. My question is since I have a 2001 z28 will all 98-02 M6s work on my car or do I need to stay with an 01-02 tranny?

Thanks,

Erich.

any LS1 M6 will work. You may want to have an upgraded one before you install, though. Iron 3/4 fork and carbon-particle blocker rings at least.

I am a newbee with manuals so can explain what these forks and rings are.

Also, is there a difference in any of the other parts like hydraulics or anything else from 98 to 01?

You should be safe with parts from that year window(98 on). The iron 3/4 shift fork replaces a problematic stock aluminum part that deforms. Th erings a synchronizer parts that replace paper-lined parts that can burn and are sensitive to synthetic oils.
