what happened with my T56??
i was shifting from 4th to 5th at around 6700rpm and missed 5th. i moved my hand too far away to the right, (like if i was engaging reverse), and missed the gate. i got some grinding right away, went back to 4th and let off, i did it twice by mistake, (highway runs).
now, with the engine running, i'm having problems getting into 1st gear, is kind of hard to put the shifter in 1st, 3rd and 5th, 3rd and 5th are grinding a little when they go in. and worst, i'm not able to put the tranny in reverse, with engine off, i can engage any gear but reverse.
what did i do to
did i fu***ed the tranny, or the clutch is saying bye bye. maybe the syncros, shift fork?? what should i check first ??

I think if your speed is <5 mph then reverse is open, normally it's closed off.
With enough force, you can get by the reverse lockup.
My advice. Learn to shift right to prevent going into reverse because it sounds like you were ripping it hard.

if i broke the reverse fork, why would i be getting that little grinding in 3rd and 5th?
i'll call the dealer and ask them but i don't know if they would want to honor the warranty because of the cam and the LT's

If things physically broke in the tranny, then large pieces of metal are also present in the tranny. Large pieces of metal don't usually fit well with the other parts of the transmission and the effect will cascade.
Then again it could just be your stock clutch went bad and is not releasing properly. Careful on this test but get it into gear first then start the car. If it stalls/lurches forward despite stepping on the clutch you may have a clutch issue rather than internals though I doubt it if you hit reverse and grenaded the transmission.

i'll try to test it tonight. i also spoke with the performance shop that did my cam install and they think is clutch related, i told them about the issue since i'll be doing an LS7 clutch swap, and they are going to inspect the trannie and make sure nothing is broken inside. i'll update this post later on.
Thanks everyone for the replies.

update:
it ended up been the transmission, some broken forks, messed up shyncros, the reverse gear was messed up, etc,etc ... i left the car at the shop 3 weeks ago, to get a trans rebuild. i was also installing a new LS7 clutch, remote bleeder and some other little things for my drivetrain. transmission went to RPM for a stage 4 rebuilt. picked the car up today, and is just amazing how smooth it shifts, still breaking the clutch in, so i'll have to wait 300 miles to get a feeling of my new trans.
