Installing your own gears
Is it really that hard.
I have been trying to get my 4.11's in for a while. My fault, just been flying all over the place and just keep missing dates to get them installed.
I have the strang 4.11s, crush bearing and seal. Going to pickup the shims.
But how hard is it to remove and put everything back together?
Does anyone have the torque specs for all the bolts?
any help would be appreciated. Is somethign that is way to hard to do on my own?
Btw: I did my own cam, headers, breaks so cant imagine this being as hard.

I can't move this thread for you, but it should be in the gears section.
It's not that it is hard, it is that everything needs to be incredibly precise, when it comes to measurements like backlash, pinion depth, etc. Set it up wrong and you can ruin a good set of gears and bearings pretty quick. If you have the mechanical ability AND someone to help you that is familiar with rears, then give it a shot. Keep in mind you will need to buy some measuring tools to do this install.
Try reading the gears FAQ:

And furthermore a how-to on installation:
